Top 3 things to avoid when designing your newsletter PDF Print E-mail

When designing a newsletter there are many things to take into consideration. When designing the layout of your newsletter, there are three very important factors to keep in mind during this process.

First, the saying, less is more, is true when deciding what articles or sections to put in your newsletter. Keep it simple and try not to cram too much onto a page. It needs to be easy to read and flow smoothly.

Secondly, try to stay away from colored backgrounds and use the standard black color for the writing.  Even though you might think this will make your pages stand out and grab your audience, if fact it could deter them. If it is hard to read or the color is distracting your subscribers might lose interest. To add interest and make sure your newsletter stands out, use borders or graphics to enhance the look.

The third thing to consider is the font style. You want your newsletter to look crisp and clean, with easy to read text. Try to avoid fonts like; Lucida Calligraphy, or Old English Text MT, and use more simple and easy to read fonts such as Arial, Times New Roman or Verdana. If you want to get your message across use an easy to read font.
